Pyramidenkogel — The world's tallest wooden observation tower
At 920 m above sea level, the 100 m tall observation tower at Pyramidenkogel offers a breathtaking 360° panoramic view over Lake Wörthersee, the Karawanken mountains and the Carinthian Alps. The tower features a unique wood-and-steel construction and is an architectural masterpiece.
Highlight: The 120 m slide takes you from the observation deck back down in seconds. Distance: 16 km, approx. 25 minutes by car.
Minimundus — The small world at Lake Wörthersee
At Minimundus in Klagenfurt, you can admire over 150 miniature models of famous buildings from around the world at 1:25 scale – from the Eiffel Tower and the Statue of Liberty to the Taj Mahal. This lovingly maintained park right on the lake is a highlight for families with children.
Distance: 20 km, approx. 25 minutes by car. Open from April to October.
Landskron Castle & Eagle Arena
The medieval Landskron Castle sits high above Villach and Lake Ossiach. The Eagle Arena at the castle offers spectacular birds-of-prey flight shows with eagles, falcons and vultures. The birds fly freely over visitors' heads – an unforgettable experience.
At the foot of the castle, Barbary macaques live at the Affenberg – Europe's only free-roaming monkey colony. Distance: 14 km, approx. 20 minutes.
Rosegg Animal Park
Rosegg Animal Park is Carinthia's largest animal park, home to native and exotic animals in natural enclosures. Deer, lynx, wolves and a petting zoo make the park an ideal family outing. Adjacent to it is a labyrinth made of 3,000 hornbeam hedges.
Distance: just 3.8 km, approx. 8 minutes by car or 45 minutes on foot.
Klagenfurt — The capital of Carinthia
Klagenfurt's old town impresses with its Renaissance courtyards, the Lindwurm fountain on Neuer Platz and the lively Benediktinermarkt. Particularly worth visiting are the Carinthian State Museum and the Europapark on Lake Wörthersee.
